Keep it a pastime on the docks

Why free reels are still 19+

Social casino reels copy the look, the sound and the rhythm of real gambling, which is why Skookum keeps the gangway shut to anyone under 19: Kelp Moorings is meant only for adults over the legal gambling age. Age gets asked twice, first on the welcome banner at the dock, then as a tick you must give before your account exists.

Lines Skookum will never cross

• Offer real-money gambling or advertise it on the docks.
• Hang a prize of real-world value from the hoist.
• Sell coins or add anything to buy in the app.
• Steer you towards gambling operators or their affiliates from any dock.
• Nag you back with countdown clocks or streak counters.

Skookum’s warning, said straight

Free reels can be tuned to feel open-handed, and when your dock box runs low it is filled again for nothing. Real-money games do neither of those things. A good evening at the cove tells you nothing about how you would get on with money at stake.

Signs Skookum watches for at the gangway

• Staying at the docks long past the time you meant.
• Turning snappish when you tie up for the night.
• Spinning to slip away from a bad mood.
• The reels are taking hours from your sleep, your job or your people.
• You find yourself wanting a version where real money changes hands.

Keeping hold of the line

• Pick your stopping time before the first spin.
• Leave the autoplay switch untouched.
• Step off the dock for regular breaks.
• Wiping this site’s data resets the lot. If you would rather stay off the docks for good, your device settings can block the site.
